Glasgow’s Modified Eagle’s Medium

Glasgow’s Modified Eagle’s Medium was originally developed to study the polyoma virus.   However, due to particular criteria has been mentioned in the long description, this media is used without serum.

Description

Glasgow’s Modified Eagle’s Medium

Background

Ian McPherson and Michael Stoker developed Glasgow’s Modified Eagle’s Medium . they used  polyoma virus to transform four fibroblast clones from a culture of baby hamster kidney cells.  as a result to Particular criteria mentioned below Glasgow Minimum Essential Medium (GMEM) is used without serum. Needs to be supplemented with 10% Tryptose phosphate broth.

Moreover, it contains twice amount of amino acids and vitamins compared to the original Basal Medium Eagle.

PurMa™ Glasgow’s Modified Eagle’s Medium also Contains

  • 75 g/L Sodium Bicarbonate
  • High Glucose (4.5g/L)

PurMa Biologics manufactures 77 types of GMEM

Why PurMa Biologics? Why we stand behind our cell culture media

Our products are the outcome of 30 years of experience in cutting edge science. We routinely manufacture over 1500 media. We have the most comprehensive collection of cell and tissue culture media. We utilize %99 pure amino acids. This will significantly increase the consistency among your experiments, and the result of your lab. Considering the highest quality, our prices are extremely reasonable.

Application of this media

It is suitable for growth of primate embryonic stem cells, MDCK, NS0, BHK-21 as well as CHO cells containing the GS expression system.

Alternative to 10% Tryptose phosphate broth, we strongly recommend PurMa TM 50X GS Supplement. This is certainly a enriched mixture of amino acids and nucleosides, and Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS) (Cat P3S528332). furthermore, this media has been formulated for use in a 5% carbon dioxide atmosphere. As a result, It utilizes a bicarbonate buffering system.
