Description

Background

At 37°C, water creates humidity which makes an excellent environment for growing all types of pathogens. Basically, growing various pathogens in a water bath container in the absence of a preventing agent is inevitable.  PurMaTM Water Bath Treatment (500X) prevents growing all the known pathogens in water bath incubators.

Special Features

  1. Firstly, dilute PurMaTM Water Bath Treatment 500 times.
  2. Secondly, PurMa™ Water Bath contains fast-acting biocidal agents with a moderately long duration of action.
  3. PurMaTM Water Bath Treatment certainly does not cause damage to the stainless steel or copper tray.
  4. Moreover, it is non-toxic, non-volatile.
  5. It actively eliminates bacteria, mold, yeast and most viruses, fungi, and protozoa.

Important Notes

  • If the below instruction is followed, PurMa Biologics guarantees NO pathogen growth in your water bath for the duration of 8 weeks.
  • If you, however, go above 500 times dilution, the treatment will be too weak to be effective.
  • PurMa™ General Water Bath treatment is not intended for a CO2 incubator.

Instruction to Use

  • Primarily, Spray water bath with 70% alcohol before using this product.
  • Dilute the PurMaTM Water Bath Treatment 500 times with either molecular biology or cell culture suited water.
  • Importantly, avoid leaving the water bath lid open overnight, add water if needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the water grades?

Cell culture suited water is purified and tested for endotoxin and cell culture performance. Molecular biology grade water is targeted at nuclease removal. DEPC treated water is specifically treated to inactivate RNases. Choosing on price rather than grade is a common cause of unexplained assay failure.

What is the difference between DEPC treated and non-DEPC water?

DEPC treatment inactivates RNases and is used for RNA work. Non-DEPC nuclease free water reaches the same nuclease free standard without DEPC, which matters because residual DEPC can carboxymethylate RNA and interfere with some downstream enzymatic steps.

Is Water Bath Treatment (500X) endotoxin tested?

Yes. Each lot is tested and the result is reported on the Certificate of Analysis. Endotoxin matters even in water, because it survives autoclaving and carries straight through into your culture.

How should it be stored?

Store sealed at room temperature unless the label states otherwise, and avoid repeated opening. Once opened, the practical risk is airborne contamination rather than chemical change, so decant rather than pipetting repeatedly from the stock bottle.

Can I autoclave it myself instead?

Autoclaving sterilises but does not remove endotoxin, nucleases or ionic contaminants, and it will not turn general purpose water into cell culture grade. For culture and molecular work the starting purity is what matters.
