Description

Product Description

PurMa™ Iscove’s Modified Dulbecco’s Medium (IMDM) is a robust basal medium designed for rapidly proliferating and high‑density mammalian cell cultures. PurMa™ IMDM delivers a stable pH environment with elevated bicarbonate and HEPES buffering, making it well suited for demanding cultures and procedures that require consistent pH control.

Performance and applications of PurMa™ Iscove’s Modified Dulbecco’s Medium (IMDM) support high‑density growth and frequent passaging. It is commonly used for suspension and adherent lines that require enriched nutrients and stable buffering, including Jurkat, HEK, COS‑7, and various macrophage and immune cell models. Because IMDM cell culture media replaces ferric nitrate with potassium nitrate, it lacks free iron, which can benefit adhesive cell cultures sensitive to iron‑mediated oxidation.

Key formulation highlights

Component Typical concentration
NaHCO₃ (Sodium bicarbonate) 3.02 g/L
HEPES 5.9 g/L
Glucose (high) 4.5 g/L

Sodium pyruvate 110 mg/L (1.0 mM)
Phenol red 15 mg/L

Benefits of PurMa™ Iscove’s Modified Dulbecco’s Medium (IMDM)

  • Consistent performance: manufactured under strict QC with Certificates of Analysis for each lot.
  • Enhanced stability: buffering and nutrient profile reduce culture stress during incubator disturbances.
  • Versatile: suitable for both suspension and adherent work at high cell densities.
  • Application ready: ideal for transfection protocols, hybridoma culture, immune cell expansion, and production workflows.

Handling & storage Store unopened IMDM at 2–8 °C and protect from light. Warm to 37 °C before use and supplement per your protocol (e.g., 5–10% FBS or defined supplements). Avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Validate performance with your cell lines before large‑scale use.

Documentation & support Complete Iscove’s Modified Dulbecco’s Medium (IMDM) formulation and Certificate of Analysis (COA) are available on our website. PurMa technical support can assist with media optimization, supplementation strategies, and protocol adaptation.

FAQs

Q1: What is IMDM iscoves modified dulbeccos medium ) used for?
A1: IMDM (Iscove’s Modified Dulbecco’s Medium) is used for high‑density, rapidly proliferating mammalian cell cultures, including Jurkat, HEK, COS‑7, macrophages, and hybridomas.

Q2: How does IMDM differ from DMEM?
A2: IMDM has an enriched vitamin and amino acid profile, higher buffering (NaHCO3 + HEPES), and uses potassium nitrate instead of ferric nitrate, improving performance for some adhesive cells.

Q3: Does PurMa IMDM contain L‑glutamine?
A3: Yes. PurMa IMDM contains 0.584 g/L L‑glutamine; handle and store per lab SOPs and supplement when required.

Q4: How should I store and prepare IMDM?
A4: Store unopened at 2–8 °C, protect from light, and warm to 37 °C before use. Supplement with serum or defined additives per your protocol and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.

Q5: Is IMDM cell culture suited for serum‑free form of medium?
A5: IMDM can be used in serum‑free or defined systems with appropriate supplementation of growth factors, hormones, or serum replacements depending on your cell type.
