Bovine serum is derived from the blood of cow. Cell culture laboratories use this serum for growing eukaryotic especially mammalian cells. FBS contains undefined nutrition, growth factors as well. Therefore, it remains a wildly used supplement for cell culture. PurMa Biologics has developed and processes three main premium fetal bovine serums, each specialized for certain requirements in tissue culture.
